Dreams are more than just stories our minds tell us at night – they can be powerful tools for personal and spiritual growth. In The Art of Spiritual Dreaming, Sri Harold Klemp, the spiritual leader of Eckankar, gives insight into different types of dreams that help us understand life, connect with Divine guidance, and awaken us to our true selves.

The waking dream is usually an outer experience given by the Mahanta. Its purpose is to point to a spiritual lesson through an example in your outer life. Waking dreams may follow or mirror Soul Travel experiences from the night before, helping Soul tie together inner lessons with outer life.
Marcus keeps hearing the phrase “slow down” – in a podcast, from a friend, even on a billboard. Later, he narrowly avoids an accident. He sensed a spiritual hand was guiding him.
Let’s say you are having a dream in which a certain friend, love interest, relative, or other acquaintance appears. Normally, any of these people would show up in your dreams in a predictable way, acting pretty much the same as they do in their everyday life.
But all of a sudden you have a dream experience where things are topsy-turvy; the people are acting out of character. This could be a sign that someone – whether close to you or outside of your circle – is unconsciously projecting his or her thoughts into your dream world. This is a dream of intrusion.
Leah dreams of a shadowy figure trying to enter her home. She later realizes someone in waking life is invading her personal boundaries and takes protective steps.
